Unlike the other Conch houses that are to some degree Key West adaptations of mainland designs, the Eyebrow House is an island original.

It contains much of the columned elegance of the Classic Revival temple with its high ceiling front porch the entire length of the house. The hooded upper windows, giving rise to its name, allow visibility while remaining shaded from the tropical sun. Second story space is generous in some cases, and at the same time interestingly constrained by the roofline angles. In the rear, the roofline descends to nearly the height of the first floor. The interior is organized usually around a central hall, which opens onto rooms on each side, and contains a staircase to second floor sleeping areas.
